Question: Why do we miss out on the opportunities You send or fail to “read your signs”? Please make sure this does not happen to me.

God’s answer:

A stoplight. On the green
light is the word GO.

Whistle with the word ALERT.

I shall grab your attention.
You shall follow My lead.

Meaning: We miss out because we are not paying attention or ignore His signs and directions altogether, like a driver who is distracted or asleep at the wheel.

Question: Why is it that despite people praying to You devoutly they still seem to have so many problems popping up?

God’s answer:

they have not consecrated themselves to Me.

If God is good, if God loves us, then why does He allow bad things to happen, especially to good people? This is a common comment. God does not cause suffering nor is He a passive God that watches us self-destruct. The problem is we do not allow God to get fully involved in our lives nor do we offer up our selves and our life completely for His purpose. We like to “reserve the right” to pick and choose.

I used to question God when misery and crisis hits people who seem to be prayerful and devout. The first thing God told me is not to compare myself with others. “You are not them.” In other words, no matter how devout a person may be, we really don’t know what their true relationship with God is.

There is also the misconception that God punishes the bad. As we say: “What comes around, goes around.” Some call it karma. Yes, there are times when God will use force (take disciplinary measures) for those who defy Him. But, more often, we “pay for our sins” because we refuse to hand over ourselves and our lives to God. In other words, we bring about our own punishment. .

Jesus gave a sculpture to a person where He is portrayed as a boxer jabbing (sparring). The message/grace given was: “You do not hit below the belt. You wear My kid Gloves”.  This is how God deals with us- with kid gloves. To explain His message, He added: “If you consider everything you have done, if I was an avenging God, you would be black and blue.”
